COS Racing Holds Team CX Clinic at Rhyolite Park

CASTLE ROCK, CO – On the 9th of September, COS Racing cyclocross pro Eric Fossell held a cyclocross (CX) clinic at Rhyolite Park in Castle Rock, Colorado.  Approximately a dozen COS Racing riders attended.  The clinic focused on teaching and improving basic CX skills such as how to properly execute bike carries, dismounts, and mounts, conquer obstacles, steep run-ups, and sand pits, and corner at high-speed on mixed surfaces.

The Rhyolite Park is located in Castle Rock Colorado and features multiple off-road options including this cyclocross track and mountain-biking opportunities.  It is also the home to several CX events annually.  The site is maintained by 6202 Cycling Club from Castle Rock.

Fossell Races to 9th and 11th at Cyclocross Nationals

On 11-13 January 2018, COS Racing rider Eric Fossell competed at the 2018 Cyclocross Nationals in Reno, Nevada. Eric raced in both the Men’s Singlespeed Championship and the Masters Men 35-39 race, achieving 9th and 11th place overall, respectively. The Singlespeed race took place at the Rancho San Rafael Park in Reno on a sunny Saturday with an impressive startlist of 135 elite singlespeed racers. According to Eric, “I gambled with a bigger gear and it paid off pretty well….Super happy to finish off the season with that race.” Not only did Eric achieve a national top-ten finish in men’s singlespeed, but he was also the first Colorado rider across the finish line from a tough field of Coloradans.  The Masters Men 35-39 race took place several days earlier on a windy Thursday morning.  After 45 minutes of brutal racing, Eric found himself on the wheel of the tenth-placed rider but unable to come around him during the final sprint – finishing 11th in a field of 35 elite masters racers.
